Thin Wall Packaging Market Research

In thin wall packaging, plastic and lightweight materials provide an easy manufacturing process, enabling easy production of these products and saving production time and cost. As a result of utilizing resources at a better rate, higher cost-effectiveness ensues, and the product's price decreases. The food & beverage sector employs this type of packaging most frequently. As the packaging industry pursues long-term growth and sustainability goals, such as recycling and adopting bio-based raw materials, the need for thin-wall packaging is increasing. Thin wallpackaging offers increased stackability due to its reduced weight during storage. Moreover, this directly contributes to reduce floor space consumption during storage and transportation, thereby reducing storage costs. Additionally, the reduced risk of breakage during transportation, improved environmental performance, and recyclability contribute to increased demand.

Most thin wall packaging available in the market consists of polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene terephthalate, polystyrene, polyethylene, and glass.

According to the market database, the Thin-Wall Packaging Application Center in Näfels, Switzerland, was recently expanded by SABIC and KraussMaffei HighPerformance AG. As a part of this effort, the Application Center will enable technology-driven innovation across the entire value chain of the thin-walled packaging industry through closer collaboration. The company, along with the customers and OEMs aim to use the application center to develop materials that improve mechanical performance, the efficiency of the process, and sustainability.

Trexel, a foaming solutions company, demonstrated its MuCell P-Series for thin-wall packaging in Germany. The company has adapted its MuCell gas-dosing process to meet fast-cycling thin-wall packaging's demanding requirements. MuCell P-Series enables lower part weights, reduced clamp tonnage, and lower injection pressures. In the MuCell, the Tip Dosing Module (TDM) is designed to be gentle with fiber-filled resins. This design provides greater output than traditional MuCell screws and requires less space.
